Snooper’s Rock Engagement Photos: Brittany + Zach

I had such a good time hanging out with Brittany and Zach for their Snooper’s Rock engagement photos. Snooper’s Rock is an iconic overlook in Chattanooga and one of my favorite spots to take photos. With only a short hike you can enjoy one of the most unique views of the Tennessee River winding through the gorge. It’s a little adventurous without being too much and gives the quintessential scenic beauty that Chattanooga offers. 

Brittany and Zach’s engagement session started just before sunrise. It was a beautiful summer morning with clouds floating in the river valley below. I always love spending the morning at Snooper’s Rock. There is something special about spending the morning overlooking the river and mountains as the rest of the world is just starting to wake up. 

As the sun peeked up behind the mountains, the sky had just enough clouds to make for a beautiful sunrise. We made sure to capture lots of photos with the golden sunrise light.

After sunrise, we went to a nearby forest location in Prentice Cooper for more photos. The sunlight filtered through the trees creating lens flares, adding a playful and dynamic feel to their photos. Brittany and Zach have so much fun together and were completely at ease in front of the camera. The forest’s golden glow provided the perfect backdrop for their personalities to shine, creating a mix of candid laughter & heartfelt moments.

Some days throughout the year when the ingredients are just right, the clouds will inverse and lay low in the river valley creating an even more epic backdrop(as you can see in the photo below)!

1. Timing is everything. Sunrise is serene and midweek is often less crowded—perfect if you want those quiet, just-the-two-of-you vibes. 
2. Dress for the adventure. Think flowy dresses that catch the breeze and layers to stay cozy if it’s chilly. Or, feel free to bring two outfits to add a little variety. 
3. Leave no trace. This place is pure magic, and it’s important we keep it that way. Stay on trails, pack out everything you bring in, and respect the space so future couples can enjoy its beauty too.
4. Make a day of it. Turn your engagement shoot into an adventure date. Grab breakfast in Chattanooga after a sunrise session or plan a post-shoot picnic at the overlook to soak it all in.
